Adaptable licensing agreement allows AAA game developers to bring greater flexibility to game development with AI.implant Montréal, Canada – July 25, 2007 – Engenuity, a global leader in providing artificial intelligence (AI) tools and middleware for the games, animation and simulation industries, today announced an exclusive perpetual licensing agreement designed specifically for developers of AAA game titles. Qualified Xbox 360™ console developers and “PLAYSTATION®3” game title developers will now have full and complete access to the source code for AI.implant, Engenuity’s highly acclaimed AI middleware solution, through a simple, one-time licensing agreement. Engenuity will no longer charge a licensing fee for AI.implant and will now offer perpetual source code agreements in exchange for marketing exposure relating to future titles developed with AI.implant. This licensing agreement is the first of its kind, providing game developers with a number of unique resources and benefits including access to the AI online learning forum, and comprehensive AI.implant documentation. In addition, the new licensing agreement allows game developers to adapt the technology in-house, due to unprecedented access to the source code of AI.implant. As a result, developers can create more immersive gaming experiences faster, while substantially cutting costs – a massive benefit to game developers looking to find flexible and cost-effective middleware solutions for their development pipelines. “Our production demands are constantly evolving, and we’re thrilled that Engenuity has developed an innovative licensing program that answers our development needs,” said Brian Leake, vice president of Technology for Sierra Entertainment. “The program enables us to leverage years of investment by Engenuity yet continue to create advanced, customized technology solutions to differentiate our games. AI is a key component in the future of video games and several Sierra Entertainment titles are helping push the use of AI to the next level.” Two-time winner of the Game Developer Front Line Award for best middleware, AI.implant powers some of the most sophisticated games, simulations and animations in the world. Industry leaders such as Midway Games, BioWare, and Vivendi have been involved in the pilot program to test Engenuity’s licensing arrangement for AI.implant. “With the growing demand for specific AI functionality in the simulation market, and our recent acquisition by CAE, we will be focusing our attention on developing our AI offering for simulation-based applications,” said Robert Kopersiewich, Vice President of Product Management and Business Development, Engenuity. “Given our seven years of development in the games community we wanted to ensure that AI.implant’s leadership position in this market would continue. Thus, we are proud to be the first AI middleware solution provider to introduce an adaptable licensing program that addresses the real technical needs of in-house AI middleware integration, as well as removing the financial barriers to owning such cutting-edge technology. We look forward to seeing the gaming community continue to explore new frontiers with AI.implant.” Qualified Xbox 360™ console developers and “PLAYSTATION®3” game title developers can request a license of AI.implant for their studio, online at www.ai-implant.com.
